Short Film: Lily
Lily is a short film about a woman
who has faced problems in her past, and she cant seem to accept
reality, there is one gripping plot with a major twist.
Although there may be parts of the main
character hallucinating and seeing things, which aren’t actually there, the
story, has a linear structure to it as the events occur in chronological order.
According to Todorov’s theory on narrative there five plots points in a film. It
starts off with the equilibrium when the woman is in the hotel room; one night;
with little girl (perhaps her daughter). A significant event occurs when the doorbell
of the hotel room goes; she opens the door to find it the room service man
holding a tray. She then recognizes that he looks like her husband and slams
the door. She starts to hear voices and imagine her husband talk to her, saying
that they are going “ to get through” and that everything will be okay; which
represents the disequilibrium. The Climax is when she is in the toilet suffering from the noises in her head and imaginations which are driving her mad. Finally the disequilibrium is when she is driving back home in the car. However get a a slight but a tension when the little girl is in the back seat and then suddenly disappears.
