Short Film: Bear
Bear, by Nash Edgerton is a fantastically made short film with 2 huge plot twists, the first one which you completely didn't see coming, and the second one which really hits the viewer hard. After the girl wakes up and gets dressed, you can already see she is getting pissed off at the guy because he hadn't even woken up for her birthday ( he had but he was ignoring her for part of the act ) and then when he goes downstairs, just says Hi to her without even acknowledging her birthday, and she finishes scraping on the topping to her toast and he just swipes it off the counter and sits down and watches TV in his pants. She walks up to the door, clearly distressed and he just keeps up the act and seems oblivious to what is going on and how he hasn't said happy birthday yet. She goes on her bike ride and he organizes his stuff and jumps in his car up to his base on the cliff where he organizes the picnic, sets up the happy birthday banners and puts on his bear suit to surprise her. When she turns the corner, he jumps out dramatically in his bear suit and she gets a huge fright and flies straight off the cliff on her bike and lands straight on her left side, thumping to the earth. The guy is horrified and makes his way down to the cliff. He finds her, alive, but injured severely with cuts on the face and surely broken body parts. He tells her it was all a set up and that he could never forget her birthday and she sort of starts to smile to share the joke after calling him a "dick" multiple times. He puts back on his bear suit head piece to show her how realistic it is and he says "I'm very scary!" and "I'm gonna eat ya!" and she laughs and the shot goes to her face where she's smiling and laughing and suddenly a huge shot goes off and blood splatters all over her face as he slumps over her body, dead. She weeps as the man in the distance on the clifftop shouts down for attempted reassurance without realizing he just killed her boyfriend.
